Generating Post Ideas - HELP!

I'll admit it.

It's easy for me to talk about myself. I'm an open book, always have been. And, I really like helping others with getting their business off the ground or answered 'how did you do that' questions. But, when it comes to producing business topics to blog about, I'm at a loss.

When the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge I'm doing asked me to do an editorial calendar, I stopped in my tracks. I can't plan what I want to talk about - I'm more the spontanious type. Even in all my formal writing, I have never been a good 'pre-writer', I write the entire thing first to get it all out, and then go back and 'edit'.

So, here's your chance to help me decide what I write about next. If you're not that familiar with me or what I do, read my about page. You'll see I'm a 'Jill of all trades' and that I really need to 'focus' more. LOL.

I'm offering a giveaway too - for each topic idea or question you'd like answered that you put in the comments, that's an entry. *Entries close when I feel I have enough ideas (yeah, not a solid deadline, I know). Now, it has to be a topic I haven't covered (so do your research) and it can't be a silly idea/question just to get an entry. This is serious business peeps. :)

Because I know everyone has different needs, giveaway will be winners choice of one of the following:
* 250 free business cards ($25+ value)
* Free editing/writing consult ($50 value, one hour)
* Free product of your choice from my design stash (with approval) (up to $25 value, including tax/s&h)

Alright, let the comments roll! And - thank you!

  1. You talk a lot about writing and creative work. Who are your inspirations in the writing field?
What inspired your creations with the materials you craft with?
What's the worse writing gig you have had to do as a freelancer?

  2. Hi
I would love to know more about where you get all your supplies that you use? I really love some of the stuff you make!

I would love to learn about what you were doing before and why you decided to open your own business?

How did you get involved with all the Mom groups and Living My Moment and how has it helped you all?

What has surprised you about owning your own company?

Do you feel like you get enough support with your business from your family?

I would love to see a post of all your favorite designs that you have done.

    Good Luck!

  3. Yes Kelly, I think that is a great idea! You could write about how social networking got you all of your side jobs. :)

  4. What about sharing some tips/tricks "behind the business" kinds of things. Sharing some tutorials for making your own stuff (not so much so that you lose business or anything) but just enough to give some insight for others interested in doing what you do :D

  5. I'm always interested in seeing what music inspires people! I'm a bit of an audiophile.

As well, posting videos of what you've been up to or even of amusing things that happen in your day really helps your followers put a face to the name - so the odd video blog post is always exciting!

  6. Angela,
I think it would be awesome if you did a post or a few posts that highlight different samples of your work. Then you could link them or post them also on your product spotlight page.
Lots of folks who love to purchase handmade stuff like to see multiple samples to give them an idea of what they might like best for themselves. :)
    Love your blog, btw!

  9. I, as you know, have mentioned several times that I am not creative and do not think that I could ever do what you do because of that reason. Could you share what your ultimate motivation is behind what you do and what it really "takes" to do it???

  10. I can't live without a media calendar, but I'm also totally type a personality!

There are a lot of different things you could do... you could feature interview with different independent creative type/Etsy seller, you could participate in the meme, Wordless Wednesdays where you just post a photo, you could also do link ups and reviews. What I do is keep a running list of ideas and whenever one pops in my head I just add it to the list.

    Good luck Angela!
