My Dog has the Munchies

More about my dog, I admit it, I love my pets.

However, this post isn't sunshiny and fun and full of cute pictures.

No, this is to show you how far my pet love goes. My husband and I have put up with our dog's eating habits for quite some time now.

Here's what she had for breakfast the other day:

And for lunch:

And for dinner:

And for a midnight snack:

Yep, that's our dog. I should mention that her lunch was one of my former student's published books. Her dinner cost us $1000 to replace. And those cd's are all the photos from our wedding. Yeah. That bad. :)

Do you have any crazy dog/cat/pet stories like this? Do share! It'll help me feel better about my dog issues! :)

  1. I love my dog too. We back up to a lot of wooded acreage and he likes to bring into the house "presents" for me such as dead mice or birds. At least twice when we were walking in the woods he has caught a rat and eaten the entire thing right in front of me. And then he came home and had dinner!

  2. Wow, looks like he needs to stay in the crate all night! I was literally speechless looking at the pictures. Yikes!

  3. Deanna,
Thanks for commenting! Glad to hear that someone out there feels my pain! Although, it seems like your dog has better intentions - he's trying to be nice! :)

  4. Hey Christina,
You're right - she definitely needs to be crated, but more so during the day - that's when she does most of the damage (when we're gone). :)
Pictures sure did tell the story though huh?

  5. What kind of dog? I know when we first got Cooper, he was a chewer, but only when we left him alone. Once he finally realized that we were coming back when we left and he got more comfortable in our family, he stopped chewing.

Now, that doesn't mean that he is NOT the most neurotic dog I've ever met. He wouldn't go into the kitchen for over a month when we got a new fridge. He refuses to eat dog food. I COOK for my dog. Now, his latest is standing in the kitchen doorway WHINING for ice because he's discovered that the new fridge is GOOD because it has an ice machine. Yes, he is spoiled...I know...

  6. Lana,
That's hilarious! Sounds like you have a Weimerainer (sp?) like me! She's just like your dog. Although, that's not the dog that's doing the eating. That dog is a mix of greyhound/pit.

We've actually had her for two years - rescued her from being euthanized - and she had never even had human contact at that point. We had to train her on being a dog, and she's really come so far. The chewing/eating started back in August and has increased as time has gone by. I looked into pica, a disease where dogs/people eat things at random, and that's a possibility.

Anyhow, thanks for reading the blog and leaving a comment - neurotic dog owner's unite! :)

  7. A CD??? That's a new one!

I think just about anyone who has been the proud parent of a puppy can relate.

Glad to have "met" you on Twitter!

  8. Tiffany,
Thanks for commenting! Yes, we are proud parents for sure. Unfortunatley, she's not a puppy and this is a relatively new habit, but we're working through it. :) But, I have to admit, I was pretty shocked about the cd's too.
Glad to have met you on Twitter also!
