The Twelve Days of Christmas: A Special Guest Post

I love Thanksgiving, but I really love Christmas. My Husband & I decided a few years ago to avoid overspending & going crazy during the holidays by limiting our children’s gifts. Being Christians and believing in Jesus birth story we landed on three gifts for the three wise men. Simple, right? Wrong! My children would give me there input on what they really wanted for those three gifts. Then, I would be out in the stores, meandering the aisles, and bam, I would see something that they would JUST LOVE but wasn’t on their list. Well what is a good mamma to do? She creates a new way to give them gifts, that’s what.

As I starting finding all these cute, little, inexpensive gifts I would stash them away. When we decorated the house for Christmas and hung our stockings on the fireplace, I was inspired. That is how the Twelve Days of Christmas was born. Twelve days before Christmas I place a small gift in each of their stockings. So each morning before school they run downstairs to see what we have left them. And, yes, they do know it is us that left it. No Santa needed for this project.

I wanted to share with you the types of items I buy. Most things can easily be found at the Dollar Store or in the $1 section of Target.

* Gum
* Christmas Candy
* Chapstick
* Lip gloss
* Pencils
* Funny erasers
* Bookmarks
* Stickers
* Books
* Headband Antlers
* Christmas themed door knockers

My children look forward to The Twelve Days of Christmas every year, even more so than Christmas. The excitement in their eyes with what will it be this time is priceless. I love shopping for these small tokens of love. This is one holiday tradition that I will love for a lifetime.

Merry Christmas Y'all!

Revisiting the Top 10 Mistakes People Make in Social Networking

Recently, I guest blogged on The Work at Home Woman, a great site full of resources for women that work from home (or want to). I love Holly, the founder - she's a great friend. And, I love the opportunity she gives me each month or so to write for her blog.

This particular post was done back in August, but it's still one of my favorites to this day. Here's the meat & potatoes of that post (the full post can be seen here: http://bit.ly/deWVdL.

So, what are the top 10 mistakes? Well, it depends on who you ask, but in my experience, it comes down to these 10:

Mistake #1Following as many people as you can in hopes of getting followed back. Why is this a mistake? Well, first of all, you want your follower/following ratio to be as close as possible. If you have a significantly higher amount of people you are following, you can appear to be a spammer. Take it slow, and add 10 new people a day – and only those you are truly interested in. And, no, you don’t always have to follow back.

Mistake #2Always scheduling your tweets. It is okay to schedule your tweets. Just not all of them. People will figure it out, especially if you aren’t around to engage by retweeting and @mentioning or @replying. If you schedule a tweet and aren’t around for the response, isn’t that kind of pointless?

Mistake #3Sending a DM, especially an auto-DM when someone starts following you, and including a sales message. Okay, DM’s are great. Auto DM’s are okay. But, DO NOT include a link to your sales page or try to sell something. If you are going to send an auto-DM, make it a ‘thank you for following’ or ‘nice to meet you’ message – and that’s it. In general, save DM’s for private messages or for sales pitches ONLY when someone has shown interest.

Mistake #4Always making it about you. This goes for all your social networking. The general rule of social networking on a business account is to use the 4:1 or 10:1 ratio (there are different schools of thought). The basic point of this is that you should spend a majority of your time retweeting, commenting, liking, @mentioning, @replying, link sharing (not yours), etc. and save the sales pitches for the minority. If you make it all about you, people will eventually get tired of it.

Mistake #5Neglecting your accounts. Again, this relates to all social networks you have set-up. I am guilty of this on occasion, especially with my blog. And, it’s okay from time to time. But, find a balance, set-up a routine if you can, and be consistent. Your fans/followers/readers will appreciate it and know what to expect from you.

Mistake #6Completely separating your personal and professional life. Huh? What? Yes, I went there. I know some will not agree, but I find that if you add a little personal into your professional accounts, your following will connect with you more. And, it’s really okay. My following knows that I’m struggling to have a child (not all the details, but you get the idea), that I am a chocoholic (I often tweet about cravings), and all about my pets (and their bad habits). So, decide how much is enough for you and start sharing a little.

Mistake #7Always suggesting your page to your friends. This can be a great tool, but it can also cost you some friendships. Rather than always hitting the ‘suggest my page to my friends’ link on Facebook, consider a more subtle way – every so often (not that often) post a link to your fan page on your personal page. This way, they can choose whether to become a fan or not, and you’re not seen as a nag.

Mistake #8Posting when you’re tired, angry, sick, etc. Yes, this can be a problem. If you must do this, then read what you wrote once or twice before you post it. Or, have someone read it before you hit ‘submit’ to ensure you don’t say something you can’t take back.

Mistake #9Shunning your competition. Attention: it is okay to be friends with other people in your industry. In fact, it could be a great thing for both parties involved. Don’t be afraid to connect with other people who share your passions and talents. Bonus: this is also how networking works. You refer to her, she gives you a tip, and so on and so forth. It works people.

And, for the next one, I’m giving Holly the honor of adding one, since she gives me the honor each month of guest blogging on her site…

Mistake #10Not adding a personal message when sending a friend request. Nothing is worse when someone sends over a friend request on Facebook or LinkedIn and you have no clue who they are or why you should add them as a friend. If you don’t know the person, always remember to include a short message with the request “Hi I see that we both live in Austin, and I’d love to add you as a friend”. Social networking is about making genuine connections, not a competition on how many “friends” you can rack up.

Well, that's it - my 10 tips - take 'em or leave 'em. That being said, make sure to go check out Holly's site if you've never heard of it before - you won't be sorry! :) And, if you think about it, go ahead and leave a comment about YOUR tips and what-not-to-do's.

It's Time to be Honest

Okay, so I have to be honest.

I don't know what it is, or why it's happening, but I HATE blogging. (well, right now I do.) Call it a dry spell, but I just can't seem to blog on my own blog.

Now, the good news is...

I'm having no issues guest blogging! I seem to be able to come up with topics, write them quickly, and have enough inspiration to pull off a few a month.

But, I just CAN'T write for my own blog. Any thoughts as to why? Or how to solve this issue?

Another good thing is that on Saturday, I'll be at Bloggy Boot Camp, and I'll be learning alongside other bloggers. I'll be able to put things in my blogging toolkit that will help me come back on Sunday focused, renewed, and ready to blog again.

Well, that's my goal anyhow. :)

How about you? Can you relate? Have you been there?

I'd love to hear your thoughts...

My Pledge to Buy Handmade & Local Items

As I gear back up to get back into blogging after taking a break to enjoy my sister and nephew having moved in with me and my hubby, I decided to take part in something great...

The Handmade Toy Alliance (http://www.handmadetoyalliance.org/) is coordinating a push to buy handmade and local products during American Craft Week (http://www.americancraftweek.com/).

Why am I participating in spreading the word? The reason is two-fold...

1. I myself am a small business owner, making my products by hand, and I strongly support consumers buying from their local businesses and supporting the small-business owners, who often have higher quality items, sometimes at a lower cost.

2. Now that there's a baby in the house, I understand better the importance of what types of toys we give our children and knowing where they came from.

So, I hope you'll consider joining in - or at least reading about the pledge and spreading the word...

To find out more about the pledge and how you can get involved, check out this site: http://www.handmadetoyalliance.org/Community/HandmadePledge.aspx.  You can also read their press release to learn more: http://www.pressreleasepoint.com/node/507012.

They also have a facebook and twitter page: www.facebook.com/toyalliance and @toyalliance.
When tweeting about it, if you'd like to spread the word, be sure to use the hashtag #HTApledge.

Thanks everyone!

The Reason I Haven't Posted Lately

So, I have been neglecting my blog lately. I'm sorry. I know I should be more consistent in my posting, but I just can't right now.

Here's why...

My sister and her baby just moved in with us. He was born on July 21st (my anniversary with the hubs) and they just moved in on Saturday. His name is Forest, and isn't he a cutie??? :)

Just thought all my blog readers would love to see his cute face... I promise to do a post soon after I get used to soak up his sweetness. :)

What are You Getting Your Teachers this Year?

So, it's back to school time... and that means...

Teacher gifts.

As part of my Back to School Blog Tour postings, I figured this would be a great topic to share! But, first, a big shout out goes to Abbey with Living My MoMent and Holly with The Work at Home Woman for hosting this tour! If you aren't sure what the tour is all about, read this first...

So, what kind of gifts should you get your child's teacher? Well, as a former teacher, I can tell you that most teachers want practical, yet thoughtful gifts (although none expect gifts).

Here are some ideas (I offer the first 4 things):
1. Personalized note cards - these can be with their name, school info, etc.
2. Decorated clipboard - more fun, yet still practical, and can be personalized with name, school theme, etc.
3. A piece of unique jewelry - I've got some great domino, scrabble tile, or bottle cap pieces you can personalize with their names or even school theme
4. Gift certificates - this can be to anywhere - a shop like mine, a restaurant, Starbucks, etc.
5. Coffee mugs or thermal mugs
6. Flowers or a card - especially if it's personlized with a note from the student
7. Candy or food of any kind
8. Cute note pads, or other stationery items
9. A nice pen/pencil set - maybe engraved with their name
10. A few new children's books or other teacher supplies to add to their stash - especially helpful for those teachers who teach in situations where they always have to buy these things - it gives them a break.

Teachers don't want you to spend an arm & a leg - truly. It's the thought that counts - and the more you get to know about your child's teacher, the better suited of a gift you can get them. :)

Okay, now shop away!

The Back to School Blog Tour is Coming!

Over the summer, I participated in The Summer Blog Tour with Living my MoMent and The Work at Home Woman. It was a great tour and I met a lot of great bloggers.

This time...

I'll be participating in the Back to School Blog Tour. The great news? You don't have to be a blogger to participate - you can read blogs, comment, win prizes, and have a ton of fun without the commitment of blogging!

So, this is just my little pitch to let you know that on Sept. 6th, I'll have a special Back to School post up and a link to where you can go to enjoy the Back to School Tour and the rest of the blogs.

AND...

I'm one of the bloggers that will have a prize that will be given away - so, don't miss out on the fun!

See you then....

Self-Reflection, Giveaways, and Turning 31

So, tomorrow, August 29th, I'll be 31. At exactly 11a.m. - and as my mom says, I've been prompt ever since! There are a couple of things I want to do to celebrate, including a few giveaways! :)

First though, as I always do each birthday, some self-reflection:

I recently learned what kind of entreprenuer I am: A Tenacity Jane.

Here'e what that means:
Roughly one in three women entrepreneurs is the type Tenacity Jane.

As a Tenacity Jane¸ you may be struggling with cash flow or other concerns in your business right now, but your passion is undeniable. You believe in what you are building and are working hard to help it turn the corner. As a result, you may be feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or worried -- specifically when it comes to business finances and cash flow.

You may also be working more than you care to right now, but you're determined to do what you need to do to make your business a success. It's important to realize you're not alone, because Tenacity Jane is the most common of the five types. Equally important, the challenges you are facing right now can be overcome. Many of the women we've interviewed have told us that they've been a Tenacity Jane in the past, but ultimately they brought their dreams to reality and created highly profitable businesses.

Well, that sums it up a bit - but I feel like I'm moving out of that stage and into another Jane stage, which they say can happen. What kind of Jane are you? Go here to find out: Jane Out of the Box.

Now, for the birthday gifts - for YOU. :) I've got some giveaways running on my Facebook and Twitter accounts too, so make sure to become a fan or follower because you can win something different everywhere!

Grand Prize: Win a $31 gift card to shop at alwaysBdesigns!
Runner Up: Win a 31% off coupon code to shop at alwaysBdesigns!
Everyone: Win a shopping discount code (random amount) to shop at alwaysBdesigns!

  1. I'd like to know what kind of Jane you are. If you're not in business, then tell me what you'd do if you could start your own business. Comment below.
  2. Preview alwaysBdesigns and tell me what you'd want to use your winnings on in the comments below.

The Winner Is...

So, I haven't posted in awhile, and no, Darren (aka @problogger), I'm not apologizing. :) I have a fully painted inside of the house because I've taken the last week off to paint! Yay!

Here's a photo - see all the paint cans? Yeah, I'm sore....

Anyhow, my main reason for posting today, before I get back to the regularly scheduled program, is to announce the winner of the 'Generating Post Ideas' giveaway. You all gave some great ideas and you'll be seeing them eventually, maybe with a shout out or link to your site...

But, without further ado... Cate from Real Life With Kids is our winner! She gets her choice of a prize too, pretty sweet huh? :)

Thanks everyone!

Generating Post Ideas - HELP!

I'll admit it.

It's easy for me to talk about myself. I'm an open book, always have been. And, I really like helping others with getting their business off the ground or answered 'how did you do that' questions. But, when it comes to producing business topics to blog about, I'm at a loss.

When the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge I'm doing asked me to do an editorial calendar, I stopped in my tracks. I can't plan what I want to talk about - I'm more the spontanious type. Even in all my formal writing, I have never been a good 'pre-writer', I write the entire thing first to get it all out, and then go back and 'edit'.

So, here's your chance to help me decide what I write about next. If you're not that familiar with me or what I do, read my about page. You'll see I'm a 'Jill of all trades' and that I really need to 'focus' more. LOL.

I'm offering a giveaway too - for each topic idea or question you'd like answered that you put in the comments, that's an entry. *Entries close when I feel I have enough ideas (yeah, not a solid deadline, I know). Now, it has to be a topic I haven't covered (so do your research) and it can't be a silly idea/question just to get an entry. This is serious business peeps. :)

Because I know everyone has different needs, giveaway will be winners choice of one of the following:
* 250 free business cards ($25+ value)
* Free editing/writing consult ($50 value, one hour)
* Free product of your choice from my design stash (with approval) (up to $25 value, including tax/s&h)

Alright, let the comments roll! And - thank you!

My Top Resources for Working from Home

Oh. My. Goodness.

I'm struggling here. I started a new job, added some freelance projects, celebrated my wedding anniversary, welcomed a new nephew into the world, and have fallen behind in the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenges - and that's only in the first 8 days!

For Day 7, the link post, I'd like to offer my readers some of my favorite resources for working at home. As a business owner (always B designs) and a freelance writer/editor/marketer, I stay pretty busy. I'm always trying to find the next best resource to help me manage my time, find freelance jobs, connect with other moms in business, or build my following for always B designs. It's kind of another full-time job. :) If you're interested in starting a business, I write about one of the most important things when working from home or starting a business - Finding Your Niche - in an earlier blog post (Yay Day 8!).

One of my favorite sites to visit is The Work at Home Woman. Holly does a fantabulous (my new fave word) job of highlighting strategies to make working from home work for you, and I always check her blog for the latest and greatest articles. Here's one I actually contributed to: Giving Good Customer Service - I'm tip #7.

I also really enjoy Market Mommies, Living My MoMent, and Market Mommy. Each of these sites has special and useful ways to help market your small biz. Not only that, but the women are great! There's also a magazine that the Association of Work at Home Women puts out called Making it Work at Home. I did a review post about this magazine if you'd like to learn more.

To help me become an even better writer, I am involved a lot with AWAI, and online writer's heaven full of courses, job postings, and useful articles to make the writer's life a bit easier. In addition to the job postings there, I often do freelance job searching through Virtual Vocations, a paid (but reasonable) site that is all work-from-home jobs (that pay more than $1 per hour or a penny per word).

Now, if you're working from home and looking for opportunities to bring more income in, I've created an Opportunites page at the top of my blog that you can click on anytime. I'll try to post new ones as I come across them, but I will say, these are all women/organizations I trust and highly recommend. :)

I hope this post has been useful, that you find lots of great new peeps to check out, and that your work-at-home life is everything you want it to be. :) If you have any suggestions, please share!

10 Things I've Done (That I Bet You Haven't...)

So, day 2 of the 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge, and so far so good. Today's challenge is to create a list post. I've done these before, and they're usually tips on design or business, but I wanted to make today's list post a TON of fun.

So, here we go - the Ten Things I've Done (That I Bet You Haven't):

10. Started a Business: A lot of you have probably done this, but hey, it's something I'm proud of!
9.   Given a Cat a Bath: Okay, so maybe if you have a cat, you've done this too. But, if you have a cat, you also know this is something you totally shouldn't do!
8.   Shook Hands with the President: In high school, I was at a convention and shook President Bill Clinton's hand. And then proceeded to wash them.
7.   Interviewed for a Reality Show: Yeah, I did, for real. Back in college I thought it would be cool to be on the Real World or Road Rules. So glad I dodged that bullet!
6.   Been to China: Yep. For 2 weeks. And all I ate was white rice and Oreos. Best. Diet. Ever.
5.   Sung on Stage with Someone Famous/Got on YouTube: This was the funnest Vegas trip ever. And, he's a very nice guy! (Kris Allen) If you don't believe me, watch the YouTube video. :)
4.   Hosted an Exchange Student: This was probably one of the highlights of my past few years - what a blessing to show someone else around our nation.
3.   Been Skydiving: Totally the time of my life, and if you haven't done it, you SOOO need to. It was my way of letting go of my infertility struggles and giving it to God.
2.   Gone White-Water Rafting: I did this one summer when I was nannying in CO, and although I fell out of the raft twice and was throwing up water all the rest of the day and would never do it again, I do have to admit it was fun. ;)
1.   Been Struck by Lightning: Uh, yeah, if you made it all the way through this post, you deserve to know about #1. And, if you have too, I SOOO want to know! Do tell!

So, I'd love to know what you've done that's on this list - come on, prove me wrong!

I'm on a Journey of 31 Days!

Okay SITS gals and BlogFrog friends, I'm ready to go on this 31 Days to Building a Better Blog challenge with you!

I've already done day one...

Here's what I did - if you've been here before you will definitely notice the changes!
  1. I changed my blog header so that it said THE BLOG instead of 'Custom Stationery & Gifts', which is what my website says. That way, people would actually know this was my blog and not my website, which has actually been an issue before.
  2. I added my elevator pitch below the header - what do you think? I wanted something short and sweet, but that conveyed that I'm not all business. Did I miss the mark or hit the nail on the head?
  3. I updated the overall look of my blog - cleaned it up, added better 'Ways to Connect' buttons, and added share buttons at the bottom of each post for easy sharing. I also installed Google Analytics for tracking purposes.
Hopefully, day one was a success for me and for you! Any other tips or tricks I should know about?

Review of CreationConversations.com

*Disclaimer: Every now and then I review books/magazines/websites others ask my opinion of. In no way am I receiving compensation and my review is not an automatic approval or agreement with their philosophies. I share my opinions with you so that you too, may go on to form your own opinion and maybe find something new to read.

A new friend of mine, knowing that I too am a Christian, asked my opinion of a new website she was involved with - Creation Conversations. I decided to review the site, trying to review it from a Christian standpoint, and not a denominational standpoint - meaning, I may or may not agree with the site's viewpoints, but what do I think of the site overall...

Basic Design:
I like how the site has muted colors, blue, like the earth, and that you can see the bible - the original book, in the background. Very elegant and understated. It is very well laid out and easy to navigate - a major plus!

Basic Layout:
Like I said, easy to navigate. Another big plus is that it has the major important things on the right hand side, easy to find, like the Resources and Sign in link. You can tell where their links go to, and everything has a heading. The only thing I would change (because I'm easily distracted) is to have divider lines seperating their 3 main columns.

Oops, sorry, I got lost in their photos page...

Back to it...

Content:
This is a great sight overall for those who want to learn about this viewpoint (see more on the site for their viewpoint, but it's basically creation over evolution). It is very informative and doesn't scream at you or talk down to you. It explains things simply, and in fact, my favorite page is their 'FAQ' page. That answered some questions I had for sure! The best part - they give you biblical proof of each point they make, which I think validates a stance because it shows 'proof'. The only thing that could have made it a more solid case was to put actual verse in there, so that people could go look it up in the bible. Overall, I think it's a great place for people who would like some answers.

I love the forum too - for this site to take on the task of talking about such a controversial topic is brave, but necessary, and I think they've done a good job at representing people's opinions and need to talk about it.

Another great page on their site is the resources page. I like how they share other places to get more info on their viewpoint. This is important to secure trust in readers, so kudos!

Lastly, I also like that they have a groups section. This lets readers at different stages explore the site on their level. I do however, think they could benefit from adding a 'moms' group. I didn't see one, although I did see one for grandparents, kids, men, etc. Moms are a huge audience, and targeting them would be important.

So, what do you think? Visit the site, share your opinions! I'd love to hear your thoughts (but keep it clean).

Feeling Behind

Wow. I'm feeling so behind. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. :(

But, so many things - good things - are happening! You see, I started working from home Monday, and I couldn't be happier. However, there's just SO much to keep up with!

Working from home really is WORK.

Here's what I've been up to lately...
  • Mommy Perks is updating my website so that it will be easier to shop. Shara and her husband Rick are, what can I say, awesome? AWESOME!
  • Being the Texas Coordinator for Mommy Bag Marketing - a blessing, truly. Read a blog post I just wrote today about the program - very, very cool.
  • Guest posting EVERYWHERE. You can see all my guest posts to the left in the sidebar. Lots of variety for just about anyone. I love writing. :)
  • Working with Living My MoMent on a great new way to have customers Shop & Review your products right from her site, with links to yours! I'm helping her out in the marketing department and it's been a great time so far. If you want more info, email marketing@livingmymoment.com. :)
  • Editing books, writing press releases, and in general, getting a TON of interest in my freelance work. Thank you Lord!
So, while I'm VERY busy, I'm also VERY happy. What makes you happy? Care to share?

Yes, this Post is About Panties...

Panties.

I'm excited about Panties.

And, you should be too!

The other day I finally (story on that later) got my QuackBack panties in the mail. I won a giveaway on Living my MoMent and was super excited to see what the fuss was all about with these particular panties.

Boy, were they cute! Below are some photos of said panties and the packaging they came in. There was even a sweet note addressed to me.

Now, I don't normally get that excited about panties, but these are the most fun panties I've ever seen! You should check them out at http://www.quack-back.com/ and order a pair for you or a friend. What a great gift idea. There are different themed panties, each with a cute little duck and a saying to inspire, create laughter, and brighten moods.

Now, for the story behind how long it took for them to get to me... Read this post here, including the comments. I'm Mossy Brook Lane and Cypress, and because she was daydreaming about the names on the envelope addressed to me, she forgot my house number! I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that one. And, it just made the panties that much more fun!

Anyhow, I'm going to go buy some gifts now - panties of course! :)

Finding Your Niche is a World of Too Many Ideas (Repost)

*This post was originally my first guest post on The Work at Home Woman. I am sharing it here due to popular demand through a recent twitter chat.

When I came home and told my husband that I wanted to quit my teaching job and become the editor of a local magazine, he didn’t blink an eye. When I added, “And I want to start my own stationery business,” you could see the look of panic begin to cross his face.

For my entire working life, I’ve struggled to find a job that allowed creativity but that also paid well. My husband would say that there aren’t many out there, that a job is just a job, and that I shouldn’t worry about being happy, just about bringing home some money (the male point of view I guess). I don’t know about you, but for me, I have to love what I’m doing. It took awhile for him to get on board with my decisions, but when he did, he was very supportive.

But then the business started doing well, and I wanted to expand. I brainstormed things I could do: scrapbooking, handmade note cards… Then, I came across custom decorated clipboards – a perfect use for my extra scrapbook paper. It was a big hit! After that, I expanded to making decoupage domino necklaces using scraps of paper I already had. At this point, my husband warned me: “Don’t start doing too much, what you do won’t be special anymore.” I promised him I’d stick to things that used my scrapbook paper and not venture too far out of my current zone. We shook on it.

He was right. Expanding too much meant I wouldn’t be special anymore. I had to decide what made me special and create a niche out of it. But how? I had so many ideas filling my head and so many things I enjoyed creating. How did I know what to focus on?

Here’s what I learned:

Hobby vs. Business. There’s a difference between a hobby and a business. Just because I like doing something doesn’t mean I can make money at it. For the purpose of finding my niche, I’d have to determine which was which.

Group like Items. I like to bake, write, edit, read, sleep, scrapbook, design, and take photos. But, it doesn’t make sense to have a bake shop where I also sell invitations I designed. It doesn’t really fit well together. But, I can create a store where I sell birthday invitations and also items that make the perfect gift – it’s a one stop shop, and it covers many of my passions.

Realize the Need for Change. Yes, change. I started with just stationery. Then added some items; then cut back. It takes awhile to find your niche and what will work for you. Change is good and helps you get closer to finding what works for you.

Take Risks. This is kind of like changing. You won’t know what you’re really good at until you try it. You won’t know what sells until you put it out there for sale. This may mean taking risks, but ultimately, it will get you closer to finding your niche, and it will pay off.

On a final note, I didn’t find my niche by doing something I knew would make money. I found something that made me happy. Then, I found a way to make money at it. Have you found your niche?

Stepping Up for a Good Cause: Layla Grace Fundraising Event

What an awesome event! The Layla Grace Children's Cancer Research Foundation, founded by the parents of little Layla Grace, who lost her battle to cancer in March, was recently honored with an event called A Taste of Cy-Fair.

This event was on Sunday, June 13th at Northwest Forest Conference Center. More than 3,000 people came out to support the foundation, which raised over $26,000 from this event alone. The event was full of fun, all the food you could eat, and shopping, all for only about $10!

As a vendor at this event, I can only say WOW. There were so many people there, all to support Layla Grace. I sold special Layla Grace necklaces (which I still have a few of if you're interested), where 50% of each sale went to the foundation, and businesses from all over the country donated prize packs to help the cause. Want yours? Just email me at angela@alwaysbdesigns.com. :)

It was also my first event to pass out Mommy Bags at. If you haven't heard about Mommy Bag Marketing, you're missing out. Click here for the website, facebook page, and twitter page.
